Daycation to Palm Springs

A few weeks ago, Sarah and I took a nice little 24 hour daycation to Palm Springs, to relax and get away from all the stresses we’ve been dealing with (although I did work on the trip too), but it was so much fun and I’m so glad I decided to go.
It was a very spur of the moment, decided on the trip and booked on Monday, left on Wednesday spontaneous kind of decision. I highly recommend saying yes to spontaneous adventures like this because they are so worth it and leave you with amazing experiences that you would never have if you decided against them. That’s something I’m trying to do more of – saying yes with no hesitation and just living. Trust me, it was a breath of fresh air to do so and looking back, I’m so glad we went on this trip.
We stayed at the Saguaro Hotel, you know, the colorful hotel you see on the Internet that is extremely Instagrammable, and it exceeded my expectations. I mean, our room was vibrant Barbie pink and purple, the carpet everywhere was purple, the ceilings were yellow, there were neon signs around the hotel, etc. It was incredible, and the perfect destination to snap some photos for our feeds and get new content. :)

When we got there, we explored around the hotel, took some photos, I was in a mood cause I wasn’t feelin’ myself in any of the photos (drama queen, I know), and then we went to the pool! Granted it was about 104 degrees out, but it was still so nice to relax! We got these incredible chicken quesadillas with some sort of chipotle aioli (yum!) and just people watched. Then we got ready to go out and find some typical Palm Springs photo spots – you know, those photos you see of empty streets lined with palm trees. However, we couldn’t find any that were empty or that had enough palm trees, SO we went and got milk shakes instead from Great Shakes! This place puts donuts on top of your milkshake so of courseI was in. They were delicious (no surprise there), and then we walked the streets of downtown, went into some stores, somehow told ourselves that we didn’t need to buy anything, and then we went back to the hotel to relax for the night! That also included exploring around the hotel again to take some photos (this time they turned out, don’t worry :)). It was so much fun just spending time with Sarah and goofing around. Our night ended with Pitch Perfect in bed with snacks, which was obviously incredible. Us grandmas crashed shortly after 10pm.
In the morning, we got up nice and early to a beautiful sunrise over the mountains, headed to the gym, and motivated one another to get in a good workout – something that I’ve been really needing. Afterward we headed to the pool at 8am so the weather was perfect. Since we were up so early, we were able to take some cute pool photos without a million people watching. It was so nice to just relax in the quiet morning to some really amazing weather. Then we packed up, headed to the outlet, and went home! A quick 24 hour daycation, but it was MUCH needed.

This trip was filled with laying by the pool, exploring downtown, just living, and spending time with one of my best friends. It was something I needed so badly, but didn’t know it, and I’m already ready for our next girls trip – Sarah, where are we going?!
Self love and self care is so important. We all know that, but it’s hard to remember when life gets busy. Take spontaneous trips with your friends to foster some self love in your life and say yes more often. No matter what it is, if it sounds the slightest bit fun to you, do it. Life is all about taking risks and having experiences – so do them.
Think less, live more.
xoxo,
